Is there any secret to cutting the vinyl insert on glass tops? I'm not a tool guy and a regular scissor doesn't work that well.

Sheet metal.shears work good, I use a sharp utility knife and a straight edge. Carefully!!!

Same here Tin snips and razor knife.

IME the thickness of the plastic varies by manufacturer. The Aqueon brand required tin snips. The Marineland brand was much thinner. I believe I used regular scissors.

I think that I will pick up a sheet metal shears the next time that I visit Home Depot.
