What is my amazon sword doing?

This thing has been growing 1-2 inches every day. At first I thought it was going to create new plantlets on the end, but it just keeps on growing longer and is not growing leaves. Any ideas?

It's a runner. Every one of those little 'nodes' will grow a new little sword plant. It might take a week or so before the first plant starts to form.
