Polypterus Senegalus or Senegal Bichir. Most active of the Bichir species (especially during the day). Grows to about a max of 8-10 inches in captivity. I fed mine mostly Hikari Sinking Carnivore pellets with the occasional snack of life food that had been quarantined.
From my experience with any type of Bichir. Good tankmates are ones that don't fit in it's mouth, yet won't be overly aggressive towards it. Bad tankmates fit in it's mouth, or abuse it.
For a predatory fish, it isn't aggressive. Prefers nocturnal hunting and ambushing.
I once had a Green Terror Cichlid with a Polypterus Delhezi. I figured it would be ok because the GT would be able to hold its own. Wrong choice. Too aggressive and soon harassed my Delhezi.
