I asked the guy that was selling it and he said it's a red terror.

It is a red terror. Although this fish is very good looking it also has a serious aggression problem and will eat anything smaller than it and is very territorial. If you have bought this fish I hope you have an extremely big tank as it can males can grow in excess of 40 inches. Lovely fish though and usually quite rare to see as well.

The link I provided said males grow to 20 inches and females to 12 in the wild, and that they don't exceed 15 inches in the aquarium.
