What type of water to use in a 20 gallon aquarium?

New to fresh water aquariums. What type of water should I use for a 20 gallon aquarium? Conditioned? Purified? Outside hose water. Fred

You can use tap water with a water conditioner like prime.

You really could do with a water testing kit. Without it you'll have no idea what the parameters of the water are. You could have ammonia in it, high nitrates ect right from the tap and its more than needed when wanting to start your tank. Also once established, if any odd behavior arrises you can eliminate common problems straight away.
