I just ordered 80lbs of live rock from LR.com and 60 lbs from hirocks.com, I tested my ammonia levels and they are at a .8, I'm hoping this is my peak.

My question is will adding the live rock in with such a high ammonia level harm the rock or the little critters that come with it? I am assuming that the hitchhikers will be killed off by the ammonia levels, but i've been wrong before.

thanks
Jason

You could get a Rubbermaid tub big enough for your incoming rock, fill it with water, and put in a powerhead while you wait for your ammonia to lower. This also cures the live rock if there is any die-off on it from shipping (although most of the folks on here say that their rocks from Liverocks.com arrive ready to go into the tank). Just a thought.

You may loose a few critters, but that would mostly be from the shipping time. IMO anything that survives the shipping, will survive in your tank.
No fish? I would add it.
