Can I plant in white inert sand from Petco? ... Sand is sand, right?

3 watts/gallon t5ho
Co2 injected

(amazon swords, tiger lotus, others tbd.)

You can plant in anything really. I use petco gravel for one tank, not the best, but it works. Just keep in mind that fine sand tends to fly pretty easy (IME anyways) and can get into your filter/impeller.

I know; I use it in the waterfall tank (not planted). I just need to be careful using my Koralia.

I would put some soil down under the sand.

That's exactly what I don't want to do, because it'll stir up and then I'll have brown mixed with white.

Root tabs would be fine.. Wouldn't mind that. I have tried the layered sub straight methods, and it always winds up looking bad when I do it.
