Today I noticed what appears to be a white slime/coating on one of my gold barbs. The fish is still very active and eats well and I haven't noticed any fish flashing. What might it be? Its not fluffy or raised.
The tank has been established for years. I have 4 gold barbs, 2 platys (added last weekend), and I added a betta today but he might be put in his own tank when I go back to college.

I have had that on my fish before. I think its called body slime or something. I believe the correct med is Furan2
I think its just from a bacterial bloom in the tank that then grows on the fish's slime, like Good bacteria tho. Google body slime disease fish.

It's the slime coat slogging off. How often you change water?

No its not slogging off. It doesn't even seem to raised off the body at all and he still bwhaves normally. I change the water every 2-3 weeks, sometimes I go a little longer since there is a small bioload.
