Will this work well?

I have recently built a 40gal tank that I'm going to use as a sump for my 55 I had some spare glass left over so I knocked up a 9 gallon tank as well I'm thinking of using the 9 gal as a refugium does this seem like a good set up? Also what do you think about the stand? It's gonna be used as a plat form to work on as well it the top will flip open so you can get to the skimmer cup in the sump
