I personally don't have a tank that I would use a canister on, but I know a lot of people on AA run the Rena XP series filters. 150 gallons is quite a bit of water to filter...

I'm about to get a 125 gallon tank next week and I'm going with a Rena XP3 from www.bigalsonline.com. Right now they have that one for $90 (before shipping which is around $10). The filter is rated for tanks up to 175 (so it says) and has a flow rate of 350GPH. I wouldn't go with the XP4 because it's $100 or so MORE...might as well have 2 XP3's running IMO. The XP3 has four "baskets" in which you can plase various media to fit your filtration needs so to speak. It is nice how you can customize. I haven't had any experience with this series of filters but have heard nothing but good about them.
