Worm of sorts?

First of all, I must say that I have been unable to get any sort of picture of these things, as they come out at night and the camera doesnt agree with me...

These seem to come out of what would look like a smaller feather duster structure...

But what they do is shoot out little tendrils that look like rice noodles. I have seen them stretching over 5" and sometimes stuck to coral, sand, shrimp molt. When you shine a flashlight at it, it will retract its tendrils, and you can see sand and other items stuck to them.

Now some of these things will send out 5-15 tendrils attached to anything and everything.

I am not even sure of where to start in terms of searching to find an answer.

Any pointers / ideas are more then welcome

less spiderweb like and more rice noodle'ish

but probably the same sort of snail (thats what i always thought of them... as i knew about the vermetid's)
