Ended up with zeolite in filter cartridges so thought what the heck, might as well use it as cutting it out looks like work.
Only trouble is that the filter is for the hospital tank (permanent tank setup for plant growing, QT and sick fish). So if I use salt as a treatment it might cause the zeolite to discharge any ammonia. Drat
I've seen that zeolite needs to be recharged at hight salt levels and my salt treatment would be a tenth at least of this.
It looks like recharging zeolite needs 3 to 5% salt whereas I would only treat to about 0.1 or 0.2% salt.
Does anyone know if zeolite will discharge ammonia at low salt levels?
