20 gallon for fry?

Is a 20 gallon big enough for electric yellow and electric blue ahli fry? There are quiet a few of each but I'm not sure of the total amount. Also, what is the best filter to go in the tank? I haven't bought one yet as the tank isn't set up.

It should be fine for a little while but a 20 gallon long would be better. I would buy a sponge filter

It's longer so it will hold the fish a little longer to grow them out some.

20 gallon High 24" x 12" x 16"

20 gallon Long 30" x 12" x 12"

What's the best was to get the fry in the new tank? I'm buying the filter, heater and all of the other necessities on Thursday. Could I run the filter in the main tank for a week, half fill the new tank with water from the main tank then top them both up with fresh water? Then I would transfer the filter when the tank is at the correct temperature? Would that be a good was to do it?
