Advice on keeping Rams

Hi, I’m thinking about getting some German ram cichlids, I’ve heard that they’re notoriously sensitive and hard to keep. I’ve been fish keeping for almost six years and have had a relatively wide variety of small to medium fish species under my care. I would love to have a fish that’ll give me a little bit of a challenge, but I don’t want it to end in a frustrating, heartbreaking disaster. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to increase the success rate of keeping Rams?

Source from a local breeder that uses tap water. Give them their own, mature tank, water temp 82 with lots of natural plants and hidey spots
