African Cichlid stocking

I have a 40 gallon african cichlid tank and I have heard that overstocking is a good way to reduce aggressiveness. How many would be good for my tank size while keeping in mind that I plan on moving to a 75 gallon when they get bigger?

I would aim for around 8. You'll need to.be.careful on what ones you.pick out.to go into it. You need to.stick with.one's under 4". Cichlids grow fast so I would aim for that and add to the new tank when you get it. Here is a link to help some
