Angels are about to start spawning today!

Well, the 2 largest breeding pair of angels i have are about to start breeding (they got super agressive while cleaning one side (yes side) of my aquarium. What i am looking to do is transfer the eggs for hatching from the main 50 gal to a breeding chamber (this is a way to get a new tank *grin*). Can anyone tell me a safe way to get the eggs from the side of my tank (when it happens) to the chamber. I was thinking of using a fine meshed net to detatch them from the side of the tank and then place them into the breeding chamber. Any ideas or suggestions besides the obvious one of get a new tank (cycling the tank will NOT be a problem for me at all!)

What about using a turkey baster? I use my turkey baster for a lot of different tasks in the tanks.

I think it's gentle enough to remove the eggs without damaging them. Just throwing out some ideas.

****....My angels laid about 200 eggs this time. I let them be to get a turkey baster from the drawer .... i go to suck the eggs out and i find out that there was a vhack of holes in it (just goes to show how often i use it when i cook). So i gently scooped them out using a fine mesh net and some super thin plastic (it worked really well actually). Anyways, i had to think fast cause my 3 B. modesta started knocking eggs off and eating them. it was a mass fight in the tank and my b. modesta are REALLY hurting ... so i put the eggs into the breedign chamber and put a large circular air pad facing down to hit them. so i hope this will help some. I am just hoping now that they were all fertilized.

So another update ... the eggs i think are mostly fertilized. They are either a clear to brownish color or milky white in color. Any thunks ... i have read multiple sources that are giving multiple answers to the same question i have. Are the actually fertilized?? I have no idea and would appreciate knowing from someone who has bred angels

**edit**
yes, it is confirmed now ... all the eggs i have captured are a clear brownish color. dunno if this is a good thing or not.

You are lucky they did not take over the whole aquarium!

Thats exciting. I need to add a male to my tank so my 4-5 platies can get pregnant. I actually saw one give birth in my QT when I bought her. Then she proceeded to eat them as fast as they came out.

Here's a post on artificially raising the fry. It's very doubtful that any of the eggs will hatch if they're just lying on the bottom of the tank. The next time, if you want to remove the eggs, angle a flat peice of slate where the pair spawned. They will likely select this place as their next spawn. Then you can place the slate (eggs and all in the hatching tank).
