So my fiancée and I had a mated pair of blue peacock cichlids and the male has recently died. It looks as if the female is wanting/ready to spawn again and we want to know if we can get another male for her and if they would work out as a pair?

Sorry that the loss of the male.

While they can make a pair in the numerical sense, peacocks are polygamous breeders which means they do not monogamously pair up.

Ideally they should be kept as a breeding group comprised of one male and several females.

Introducing a new matured male of the same species should be an easy solution (what other fish are in the tank?).

I know why he died and everything has been resolved. I just wanted to know if introducing a new male would work.
