Brown Algae

[Cichlid ism]

It looks like I have a little bit of brown Algae growing on my heater & on the intake tube if my canister filter. I have led lights on for about eight hours and there is one window across the hall facing it but its about 20' feet away. Should I get a BN Pleco or two clown Plecos since they stay small? I don't have any algae eaters right now and have SA cichlid in this tank.

The misconception about plecos is that they will clean your tank for you. They have large bio loads and IMO do more harm then good.

A scrub brush or sponge > a pleco

Only one who can keep your tank clean is you.

However.. If you insist on having a Algae eater, I'd get a few ottos if nothing you have can eat them that is.
