Brown algea in my multi tank

Yeah newer tanks typically seem to get brown algae before they get green algae. Same question as Brookster, how much lighting?

Its an led on for 8 hours with a siesta period in mid day im using black diamond so i suspect diatoms. It came off the shells easy just mot the lace rock

I'm not real familiar with the amount of silicates in black diamond, but being that it is blasting media I would be careful with cichlids and bottom dwelling fish as it will likely have sharp edges.
