Hey Folks, I am setting up a new tank. It is a 50 gal. -36x18x18- with 2 Emperor 280 filters. The owner of the LFS says I should be ok with 4 smaller Central American Cichlids of different species in it. I am looking at a Firemouth, a Blue Acara, a Cutteri and a Sajica. Any opinions on compatability and weather the tank would be over stocked? TIA Keith

cichlids

The only problem I see might be the Acara. They are more aggressive than the others and may be somewhat of a bully. As far as size goes, I think you'll be fine with these in a 50 gal. They all seem to be in the 4-6" range as adults. You might want to consider doing a fishless cycle on the tank and then adding these fish one at a time. Also, the Acara is probably going to dig up any plants you try to add. Not all of them are like this, but most are.
