Cichlid Help and Ideas.

I'm new to the hobby and go at things rather ambitiously. I have a 20 gallon i want to put a cichlid, or some sort of semi aggressive fish that I can supplement part of its diet with guppy fry I plan on breading in a 10 gallon. I need ideas for the best fish or fish combination for my 20 gallon tank. I don't plan on going bigger than a 20 for a few years until I get more knowledge and expierience with keeping fish. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

A 20G isn't much size of tank for most of the Cichlids that would want to eat little guppy fry/

Guppies are a fatty fish if I recall and would need to be only a portion of a predatory fishes diet.

A 20 is pretty small, is it a 20 high or long? Checkout apistogramma species.

 

[HUKIT]

There are a hundred species of cichlids that can be kept in a 20g. I'd go with a smaller central American like cryptoheros nanoluteus.
