cichlids and shrimp?

I recently bought my first fish tank and I was thinking about buying some cichlids. I would also eventually like to get an algae eating shrimp and I was wondering if this would work or if the cichlids would be to agressive towards the shrimp.

The cichlids would eat the shrimp no doubt

Well, that's no good. Any suggestions on fish that could coexist with a shrimp?

lol, yeah, i was gonna say it would be a shrimp buffet

Most Tetras, Cories, Dannios, Hatchet fish, all kinds of stuff will be cool with shrimp.

Possibly easier to say what NOT to keep. Cichlids (including Angels, they are cichlids too) Barbs, Puffers, Clown loaches are iffy, not sure, prolly more, that's all i have right now.
