One full size oscar is borderline in a 60g. I would try the 1 oscar and maybe a 2 female cons(don't get a pair) and that's it. Even the cons are pushing it depending on your water change schedule and filtration on this set up. I would just keep the oscar and you'll be amazed how much personality he will have when he's by him/herself.

I personally would only have one pair, with 2 pairs of breeding convicts in one tank would equal World War 3 in terms of aggression.

I think I will go with an oscar and 2 nonpaired convicts. ANy suggestions on substrate, decor, or filtration?

I do water changes once a week, about 50% each time.

Thanks! What would be the minimum tank size for like 4-5 convicts?

Three female convicts in my 60 gallon is like a room full of PMSing women. I wouldn't add any males to the mix. I don't know of any fish stores that buy Convict babies, since they're so readily available... So unless you're going to use them as fish food for something else...
