convict or jack dempsy?

We got this guy when he was very small. I was almost positive he was a convict cause he was a very dark grey with black stripes, and there were times where the stripes would be very prevelant, but since we've added the jack dempsys he will look just like them color wise. So now I'm all sorts of confused. I'd love some input. I've attached some pictures. He was being difficult and actually is darker in these then he has been. Thanks for the help. We did get a female convict thinking he was a male, so there is a picture with the female close, though he spends equal time with the convict and the jack dempsys. Thanks again.

I have never seen a convict with markings like that. They can be dark in colour but not with the fluorescent dots on the head.
 
yup...first picture the fish on the left is deff a jack and the right a convict
