I have been thinking of some convicts.

I read on line, that they are pretty flexible including tank temps from 68 and up. Would this negate the need for a heater?

Might be a better species for our natural water conditions which is pH of about 7.0 and modest hardness of 30 ppm.

Regards,

It's better to have a steady tank temp then a fluctuating one. That's why it's best to have heaters. They are pretty much an adaptive fish to any conditions other than bad water quality. If you want to breed put in a heavily decorated aquarium. 30+ gallons. If kept alone in aquariums from at least 25+ gallons. Pretty easy fish and it's beautiful to.

Thanks,

I have heater, I can install. Not really looking to breed.

How many for a 39 gallon tank?
