Determining Parrot Cichlid Sex?

I have a blood parrot cichlid that is acting like a mated pair with my Jack Dempsey female. Could anyone confirm if my Parrot Cichlid is a male? The female Dempsey has gotten darker in the past few days, and they have become territorial over a corner. It seems like she is about to lay eggs.

This is after I removed my male Dempsey from the tank because they kept breeding and become too aggressive. Great!

According to my knowledge it is a female because of that little flap she has near her anus
