As my fish get bigger logic dictates that I give them more food. Being knew at fish keeping, I would like to know if I’m giving them enough to eat. Can you tell by these photos I took of some of my fish, if I’m feeding them enough?

Thank you.

Look fine and fit to me?? not sunken anyways. Not a cichlid guy though.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Yeah they look great to me. If they seem unnaturally aggressive or if their bellies look sunken in then they may not be getting enough food. But they look good on the outside.

Wonderful fish, wonderful pics.

I have no complaints and from what i can see, the fish shouldn't have too many either, except maybe a rowdy neighbor or two :)

Sent from my bed, the only space available to me that isn't smothered in dirty laundry or aquariums.

I see a bunch of beautiful healthy cichlids :) far from malnourished.

I agree. They look healthy. How often do you feed them? I ask only because after keeping African cichlids for a decade (cichlids in general for over 2 decades), I've learned that the biggest issue related to poor diet unknowingly inflicted on these fish isn't being underfed but getting over fed.

Fish, like many other animals are prone to overeating if left to there devices, and like all creatures (including humans [emoji16]), overeating can lead to serious health issues. I've found when overfed, fish become less active, more prone to disease, and generally live shorter lives.

Some like to fed large quantities, three times a day, in the name of "conditioning" to induce breeding, but I found that healthy fish are always in "breeding condition".

Your fish look fantastic to me! And actually, the opposite of the apparent logic holds true in many cases. As an example, adult snakes eat larger food, but much less often than juvenile snakes. Many fish are like this as well. My 3.5 inch angel eats less than either of my two 2 inch angels.

Juvenile discus must be fed 2 or more times a day. Adults only need one feeding a day (y)

Your fish all look great! I need to get a nice camera too lol Now a bit off topic, but could you tell me what your light blue and the orange mbuna are called? Id like to get both of those at some point but have found it hard to find names to match the pictures

I think they are Metriaclima estherae (Red Zebra) and Metriaclima callainos (Cobalt Zebra).

Perhaps someone on this forum could confirm.

Extremely aggressive cichlids! Likely not a good fit in your more passive tank. I had to remove the red zebra from mine.

Are they? I worry about my yellow labs with new additions, but so far ive been lucky. I have a couple other zebra kinds in there now (greshaki and a blueberry OB zebra). Come to think of it, i wonder if my blueberry one is the same as that cobalt but a different colour morph

Greshaki are a more timid zebra. Estherae are extremely aggressive.
