Duckweed as a plant food of Malawi cichlids

ok
1) i scoop duckweed out of my 75 about once a week
2) i know malawi cichlids like plants, thus there are only a few plants that can be kept with them...

i do not want to just transfer the duckweed to the cichlid tank and be scooping it from there all the time too, but do you think they will eat it, might it be a way to get ride of the excess duckweed AND supplement there diet with more plant matter???

thoughts

My malawi cichlids LOVE to eat duckweed. So much so that a few were hitting their heads on the glass tops when jumping for it. Hungry fish they are, or that is what they like me to think.

I've never seen duckweed last long in my 55 with the yellow lab's, though the hob filters aren't ideal for growing duckweed anyway...
