EBA mating aggression?

So my female (smaller size n pic) Electric Blue Acara laid eggs yesterday and all was going great until about 8 hours later. A vicious fight broke out between the male and female both were aggressive to the point where I could see one killing the other. As you can see I separated them with some corrugated material I use for tops sometimes. Is this normal spawning behavior?IMG_1434.JPG

Where are the eggs?
All mine acted fine ,but the EBA don't rule my tank.
You are probably best keeping the separate for a while longer?

I left eggs with mommy this time, they are on her side of the fence. They are the only two fish in the 60 g at the moment. I've read sometimes the male does this because he wants to mate again? IDK but yeah he's done his part and no one to protect the eggs from so he will remain in timeout for the week.
