Hey guys, I have had my dirted tank cycling for approx 2 weeks. I put my cory and pleco in there from my other small tank, both have same water params. They seemed fine in the other tank which was up and running for the last 4 years, seem good in new tank.

I am preparing a home for discus. Tank will be heavily planted, lots of driftwood. 125 gal, 72" 6500K Beamworks LED, fx5 filter.

Main thing is pH. i have well water and a softener. here are my parameters,
I know the pH is way way too high for discus. have not added peat yet.

pH: 8.5
Alkalinity: 500 PPM
hardness: 25 PPM or about 2 GH
nitrates: 1 ppm
nitrites: 0ppm

Any input on the ph and alkalinity?

Doesnt adding DIRO water lower PH naturally without adding chemicals? I know that straight it is not good but thought I remember reading where it is mixed with tap water to lower PH .

i have a small RO system at my house, but it is upstairs at the kitchen sink, dont have the space/patience to be aging and mixing water either. In my little 15g that has bene up for 4 years i go straight from the tap into the tank. There is no chlorine in my well system, and so far everyone seems healthy
