Fish Depressed???

Hi Guys,
I have a Jack Dempsey that Iíve had for a few years, had him when he was a juve. He was in a tank (55 Gal) with a Oscar that was a juve as well, they got along very well no problems until the Jack got bigger and he started to pick at the Oscar. Iíve seen the Jack and Oscar go at it like they were kissing, literary mouth to mouth and Iíve noticed scales on the bottom of the tank, I donít have substrate on the bottom of my tanks, and scales missing from the Oscar. So I decided to move the Oscar to another tank(55 Gal), the Oscar seems happy as can be swimming all over the tank even doing his little tricks he does when he wants food. But the Jack just sits in his cave, Iíve tried feeding him and he wonít eat. I thought maybe it was the water so I did WC but he just sits in his cave. It been 2 weeks and he wonít eat or come out his cave. Guys please help me any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you are certain that your JD is not sick, then consider adding a school of dither fish. A school of big tough tetras like Buenos Aires Tetras might just make the JD mad enough to be more active again.
