Freshwater Sump

When setting up a sump for freshwater, it was suggested to keep the main drain wide open, and adjust the flow with the variable pump. This sound about right? Thank you

Yes. Also, you can and probably should T off the return line with a smaller hose going back into the main sump chamber... great way to relieve high flow back to the tank.

I have 2 pipes in the corner overflow box, 1 is the emergency drain, which i might add is a mess saver, the other is the main drain with valve..Thank you for your help..

Sorry missed the return pipe, I do have a check valve on return line..
