I have just added a German blue ram to my tank and I want them to be the centre piece fish of of my aquarium. Which fish are the best tank mates to add with them? I already have cherry barbs, Cory catfish and Plecos. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Alrighty then, rams prefer planted tanks so that's good. What else you can now depends on your school size and pleco species

I have 5 cherry barbs and 2 2inch zebra Plecos.

I believe you get a type of small tetra species like neons or flames. A school of 6. I wouldn't add any more bottom feeders because rams are territorial

Are kribs good community fish? I want some bright colours

I'd say your well stocked as it is, 2 Pleco's in that size tank is going to be messy messy, how many Cory's?

Can you post a pic of the Pleco's? I'd say return one Pleco and get 2 more Cory's and sit back to enjoy a well stocked, nicely balanced tank;)

Will just 1 be enough to keep the glass algae free?

That's a loach, big difference from Pleco, 2 of those are fine... You should still up the number of Cory's to atleast 3

Ah thanks. Il add 1 more Cory and 1 more german blue ram in the coming weeks. Thanks

Do they not tend to nip fins? I do really like the jet black angels

That's only a 20g. Do not add Kribs. They would compete with the Ram.

Be careful adding a second Ram unless it's the opposite sex. And even then watch out...they may still fight or if they pair up they might beat up the Cories.

And I call those Reticulated Hillstream Loaches. They prefer cool water, high flow and lots of oxygen. Might still be ok, but very different preference than a Ram tank.

Don't go adding angels either, angels get 6 inches across (most common breed) and can and will be territorial, espically when a pair forms.
I agree with coursair about the loaches, there cold water fish from remote creeks from mountains

A 20g is too small to add Angels. They can get 12" top to bottom finnage.

Angels are fairly peaceful unless they pair up. In larger tanks they can pick a territory and chase away other fish without doing damage. A 20g isn't roomy enough. 29g minimum for a single Angel IMHO.

Breeding Angels you can use a 20g High for a single established pair with no other fish. But if they fight, there is no where to go. This is not for long term, just breeding.
