I ve got a frontosa in my 240 litre tank. I ve had him about a year and he's about 4 inches long. I'm led to believe that it will take years and years to reach 18 inches and that's usually only if they have enough space to grow. The biggest I ve ever seen in a tank is about 7/8 inches long and he was massive

I've had 1.5" frontosa juveniles reach about 5"-5.5" in 12 months

Their first year of life (starting from newly spat or hatch fry) is when they experience the greatest growth rate.

After reaching 5" or 6" growth rate slows to about an inch or two each subsequent year so can reach 12" in a few years.

How long do you think I can keep about 6 1" juveniles in a 55gal tank maybe only 4 and how many adults do you think I can hold in a 150gal

Well I have all mine in my 55g currently and will be upgrading soon. I have 12 and 9 of those are only about 2 inches the other three are about 5 inches. The males grow faster hence the size difference. If your only getting a small amount they would likely be ok in a 55g for at least a year and in a 150 you could have probably 7-8 adults. When housing frontosa be sure to provide hideouts for them but try and avoid sharp pointy and jagged rocks. Frontosa are very calm and tend to just float around leisurely but when spooked they are lighting fast and very clumsy. If you build caves for them it would be a good idea to silicone the rocks together so in their haste they don't collapse it on themselves.
