Here we have my beloved fish Spike. Not 100% sure what species he is, or male/female. On his right side a bit behind his right fin he has a little lump under the scales. It isn't open, nor red or getting any bigger as far as we can tell. There is no loss in colour but a slight loss in appetite. He has now become quite subdued and tends to spend his time in a cubby hole in a rock rather than out swimming like usual.

The lump is on the 3rd stripe back at the bottom. There is a slight discolouration. Anyone know what it is, what species/sex he may be.
Many thanks in advance.

It's really difficult to tell from those pictures, could you take some from different angles? Also, what are the tank mates, parameters, etc.?
