Exclamation help me id my supposed maingano

hello all, i received this supposed maingano from one of the local pet shops of the area, and cannot find one pic of a cichlid that resembles him/or her. i baught it as a maingano, later noticing the one big difference, it has the ends of its dorsal fin an cordial fin, a very bright and unique looking yellow. because of its faded colour, i thought it may be a female, but yet it is way to territorial in its tank, even to its supposed same species, i placed a male maingano in there today, and at first they seemed okay, later on , i had to pull him out because of my original attacking it. once putting in the male maingano, i noticed the difference between the two immediately, yet the stripes were the same, the yellow ends of the dorsal and cordial fins were the biggest difference, and also the intensity of the colour.

now because of these two not getting along, i have to take back the newly baught maingano and try again in finding a mate for my original. if anyone could please help me identify whether its a maingano for starters, and also the sex i would greatly appreciate it.

It could be a maingaino cross. And melanochromis species tend to be aggressive. Make sure your tank is stocked enough to spread aggression.
