It was yellow and black

You have a male. As they mature, the dominant male gets a dark blue purple color.
I'm waiting to see if any of mine change, I have 3 of them but I'm thinking they're all female.
How big is yours and how long have you had him?

I have had him 9 weeks and my tank is 150 gallons

Yah my golden is maturing right now he was bright yellow and now he's turning black.

But anything can happen he has gained silver strips and now has a darker color to it.
