Monday noticed a yellow lab holding. :-D how long will she hold for? At what point do the eggs become fry etc?

18-21 days is the average, though they are capable of mouthbrooding nearly double that duration (I had a yellow lab mouth brood for 35 days once).

If by "fry" you mean a baby fish that has completely absorbed its yolk sac and is capable of independent swimming maybe around day 14-16, give or take.

fry mostly get eaten in a main tank (some are good at hiding in Texas holey rock) unless you put momma in a baby tank. after momma stops allowing the fry to swim back in her mouth put the mom back in main tank. thats been my experience
