hybrid dempsey or electric blue hybrid?

Very dark baby from petsmart. 6 months old. Yellow fin at end of dorsal and anal. Male for sure but...I have seen hundreds of Jack dempseys but nothing even comes close to his good looks. I have heard about mutant hybrids hitting the market 2 years ago. Anyone? WTF is he?

Hi. Looks like a regular jack dempsey to me. Being over a dark substrate really makes the colors come out.

Didn't know substrate color can do that.

Yeah when they are over a darker color (or in the shade) their body color will go black, if they are over a lighter color they will go gray. Here's one of my males over a light substrate.

There are gold jack dempseys also, and its possible that it might have some of that in it, but i don't know much about the gold ones, I just have regular and EBJD.

Hard to see in photo but he has bright yellow on the back 25% of his dorsal and anal fins.
