would it be okay to use sand with south americans?, may be a silly question but africans seem to be the order of the day,,

With south americans, sand is not a must but the fish still enjoy digging. Avoid sand with the really large cichlids (oscars) as they can really make a mess with it.

oh yeah endgame do you think i should put live plants in with my brichardis?? because like u said their pit diggers and in sand that makes it worse and yeah. maybe ill put some driftwood with some java fern in there
