Is My Tank Overcrowded?

My friend has a 55 gallon long-tank. He has 8 African Malawi Cichlids in it. They are roughly 3-4 inches long. Is his tank overcrowded? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would say its under stocked do u have aggression problems?

He says he does. They usually target one fish only though.

Yea he should add more fish, that one fish is getting targeted, more fish will help him get away from the bullies. Also do u know his stock?

There is another pic of them. It just seems like it would be crowded if his tank had more? They are pretty large as you can see in the pics.

More hiding spots, good filtration and fish under 6' he should be fine.
