No one knows why?:(

I would stop trying to feeding him those feeder fish, they contain very little nutrition and contain thiaminase which destroys thiamine leading to death from fatty liver disease, vitamin deficiency, and possible parasites transferred from the feeder fish. Start the fish on a quality staple of prepared pellets like New Life Spectrum or Hikari cichlid.

as HUKIT says I would stop feeding the live fish, giving your J.D. a disease is a possibility with feeders. Stick with the prepped food. IMO
