I keep a pair of JD (1 jd 1 ebjd) in a 40b. I'll likely eventually move them to a 75 display once I get one going, but they have been fine.

I keep a single 6-7" EBJD in my 40g B tank. She is great so far, and honestly quite calm. Good personality when you go up to the tank and when it's feeding time.

How would it do with a pair of bolivians while it grows

It'll probably be fine but it's not something I've ever done before. I'd be concerned especially if there is any aggression between the species at all, or if there is a major size difference at some point.
It doesn't take long for them to grow, my JD's go from eggs to 4-5" in 6 to 8 months.
