I'm hoping I can find some Greshakei's If not then maybe ill come across some cool Afra's. I tossed around the idea if an EB Ahli, they're shape is pretty cool. Suggestions???

Gotta admit, I'm in love with Botia's! Very cool little dudes! Playing & clicking all day! Fun to watch for sure! Nobody's picking on them & they aren't picking in anyone! They are however annoying the hell out of my cuckoo cat going in and out of his den haha!

Well my service sucks at my new house I've been trying for hours, today & last night to upload pics to this & my sw thread and it just won't happen >: ( but I go to work @ 4 and they have wifi to steal lol. I didn't have n e pics if them last night to upload but snapped a couple after work

So I got 1 of my sponge filters in last night, geez it's bulky! Idk how I'm gonna hide that sucker! Think ill skip having 3 & stick with the one... Unless I get much smaller ones. Right now I situated it in the middle of the tank between the AquaClears but that's not really working for me so I might move it back to the corner. Ill upload a pic of the tanks layout with the sponge with the pics of the Botia's when I get to work

Here they are! ;D

Interesting fact about these guys: they have "razor blades" they protrude underneath they're eyes when they feel threatened.

That's pretty cool lol.. I wonder if that could do major damage to an over curious/aggressive cichlid

They are extremely social & I haven't seen any sparring, the cichlids seem to ignore them, I've seen little love bites by the peacock, he treats em like a Syno. Ill def keep my eyes open to aggression. My LFS is a guy who breeds and sells out of his garage, he has the most impressive DIY setup I have ever seen! He's coaching me on an air driven setup. It's pretty nifty he kept them with Africans for a long while and said they fair very well and some research I dug up confirms they are good scavengers in Malawi/ Mbuna set ups they are quickly becoming my favorite, very active & they play with each other day in & day out & even make an audible clicking noise! I read that once I complete te school they will be even more active. I'm excited to pick up the other two. They stick together & even live together. Very cool guys!

So would those guys work with mbunas? Specifically yellow labs, rustys and mainganos? I want to add to my stock and from your pics they look awesome? Do you think they'd get along with my cuckoos? I love the pics and sry for so many questions! Lol

It's ok! Ask away! They were housed with Mbuna I told the man I wanted to add something tough enough that can stand up to my rowdy bunch (initially looking for more Africans) but since I have lost the last 4 I added because my guys are very aggressive he steered me away from Cichlids and turned me on to these fellas. I have a hyper aggressive peacock, a ruthless Nyererei, very aggressive male Kenyi and some others & they are doing just fine. I, too, have a cuckoo & a featherfin and the cuckoo was a bit annoyed because they kept going in & out of his den but now I haven't seen him out so they must be leaving him alone they are a great addition, so far! I love them!

No problem still working on a solution, was gonna get glass tops but I'm diggin the topless tank! Might just keep topping off! Haven't put a ton if thought into it yet

Good luck on finding urself some Botias! I still love them haha! Doing very well! Snacked on some pond snails last night for dinner

Plans for the sump are back on! Might go a different route with it tho & go DIY with a rubber made tote. I have a coat closet directly next to the tank I'd like to run PVC through the wall and into the closet. If I use the tote I can continue on with my plan for a tower. Plus I'd like to redo my sw sump, I don't feel it's big enough for the tank and the footprint in the glass tank sump I have will allow me a nice fuge

Love the tank

I wish I had more room for more tanks. Enjoyed reading about all the fun you had putting this one together.
