what fish can i keep with my 3 jewel cichlids?


Suitable companions for jewelled cichlids include Kribs, other Hemichromis, cichlids found in South and Central America as well as Barb and Danio species.

keep them with just about any cichlid that grows larger then 10cm/ 4 inches as well as with many species of dwarf cichlids. Other suitable companions for Jewel cichlids include danios, silver dollars, cory cats, sucker mouth plecos, different barb species, synodontis catfish and a number of other fishes.

also i saw this fish at the lfs, dont know the compatibility tho, he was about the same size

im thinking its a peacock cichlid

depends on the size of the tank.
in a small tank < 40g, a breeding pair will kill anything in sight.
in a larger tank ~ 75-90g, they 'might" coexist with other tough cichlids.
in a midsize tank ~ 55g, i've seen them harass and kill mbuna. but anything spunkier than them might survive.
peacocks are a no-no.

My red forest jewels are cohabitating quite nicely with marbled bichirs, Senegal bichirs, and a couple of ropefish....and a bristlenose pleco and two rapheal cats.
