How old was he and how big did you grow him out to? I am hoping Kai can hit 11" at some point.

Mine got to be around 8 inches, and then gave him to a friend. Loved the fish and its colors but had trouble with tank mates as they are aggressive.Only had a 45 gal. tank and my friend had a 120. Thinking he's happier.

Thanks all

Whalerghost,

I'm sure he is much happier now too. I keep mine with a school of synodontis petricola. He leaves them alone.

Wow he sounds awesome, got any pictures or video? Did you grow him out from a young fish or got him as an adult? Any idea of age?

I couldn't imagine getting rid of a big old cichlid that I raised, but to each their own right

I used to do the planted tank thing with community fish and I am not into bigger wet pet type fish.

Lol..I have been through the whole gamet ..lol.. I have had Oscars, jaguar cichlids, fire mouth, to convicts. Also had many different African and even the beautiful Geophagus juripari etc.. I had the green terror, which I bought when about an inch long.. After my 12 year old Dempsey died, he became King.. Kept him.. But he was the only fish I saw in a125 gallon..lol. I had others but they hid so I figured either I get a 75 for him or get another planted community..I chose planted..
Here he is just before I sold him and his so called friends..Click image for larger version
