Lonely discus

I have a discus that just lost its mate for unknown causes and I don't know what to do. I don't want to go buy 5 more 5 inch discus to pair it up again. Will it be ok alone??

It might be fine. Is it in a community tank or was it just the pair in the tank by themselves? It might pair up again with another fish, but the best way to do this would be to introduce 5-6 individuals that are approximately the same size to the fish and let it choose a new partner. It may be fine in a community tank flying solo, but they really are a schooling fish.
