I have a 37 gallon tank with very good filtration and I was wondering if i could make it a malawi cichlid tank, and if so how many could I have?

I wouldn't do cichlids. Why not do a nice planted tank with a pair of angels?

Depends entirely on what from malawi youd like to do. Angels ARE cichlids too.

I breed both malawi cichlids and angelfish. Just offering my thoughts.

1 angel and a school of peaceful tetras with some corries for the bottom should be fine IMO.

I believe that might work. I dont know much abt the rainbow, but they are peaceful, vegi heavy eaters. Very pretty also.

Actually i have done almost exactly that in my 40gl. I had a pair of angels, a pair of rams, ans bn plecs. I had zero issues. Didnt have the tetras though..

so 1 angel 2 rams, but i read that usually the max for a rainbow is 4"

That should be fine with the angelfish and pair of Rams. Larger rainbowfish should be in tanks of 50 gallons +, depending on their size. Smaller rainbows should be avoided with the angelfish as well. Maybe a school of Black Phantom Tetras would mix in well with the angelfish and pair of Rams.
