So, I recently got a Pundamilia Nyererei and on the way home, got a peacock and jewel cichlid (both about 2.5 inches) for $5 from a guy online. I usually only buy fish I'm 100% sure what they are and from someone reputable, but figured for $5 this isn't so bad; plus I could always just donate them to my local aquarium club. This little guy was sold to me as an Electric Blue, but I'm questioning that. Anyone able to help me ID this fella (any white spots on the fish is probably a water mark on the glass of the quarantine tank lol, like in the 2nd picture).

I have an electric blue and he looks just like your guy.

Looks like an electric blue ahli (which is a hap, not a peacock)

Ah yes hap, jumped the gun saying peacock due to the stripes and forgot lots of hap species too have them hehe :)

Actually doesn't look too much like the Electric Blue Ahli, the shape just looks more like a peacock and the tad touch of red by the gills makes me think he's a hybrid or is actually a Red Shoulder peacock, but sold to the original owner as an Electric Blue O_O

I would say that it's a red shoulder.

Yeah, does look like a red shoulder now that I'm looking at it on my computer rather than my phone

Just so you're aware there are two haps that go by the trade name "Electric Blue", Sciaenochromis ahli and Sciaenochromis fryeri
