New/cycled 29 gallon--need stocking advice!

Hello,

Just got a nice, cycled 29 gallon tank for FREE! =) My co-worker got orders overseas and decided to pass the tank on instead of bringing it with him.

I would like to put some Cichlids in there, but I am wondering how many?

I have read alot about overstocking and lots of filtering, but still unclear on what kind and how many I can put in a 29 gallon safely.

also, is it safe to put 1-3 Nerite snails in a cichlid tank?

Not sure about nerite snails but I had three quarter sized mystery snails in my cichlid tank that they treated like escargot. They were empty shells the next morning.

no snails then! I thought so.

how many cichlids would be good in a 30 gallon?
